Hi, I'm Cameron, and I'm a software engineer living in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Jú has returned to Brazil for a few weeks to spend time with her family and recuperate, so I am home with the family. It really sucks when we’re apart, but I’m trying to use the time to keep myself in a positive routine with the things that I know take effort (like diet, exercise, alcohol, screentime, and sleep). Definitely not easy, but easier when I’m on my own for sure.
Running is still a bit of a struggle; I feel I’ve fallen fully out of love with long distance running these days. Really looking forward to getting Lyle trained up for canicross though, I think I’ll enjoy that so much more. Jú is close to being back running 5ks, albeit very tentatively and cautiously, which is also a big positive! Strength training and flexibility feel more naturally part of my routine now too; not as natural as running yet, but definitely more “usual” than they have been in the past, which feels like a positive direction.
Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, and “You Are Not Expected To Understand This” by Torie Bosch.
Where The Crawdads Sing is in a similar genre to others I’ve been reading this year; still fairly early days, but I feel like I’m going to enjoy it. “You Are Not Expected To Understand This” is a book I bought for Jú a couple of years ago, but never read myself. I’m reading it mostly to compare notes with the current AI-driven ecosystem (and a lament at how much I miss writing code).
