Dias-Doyle

Hi, I'm Cameron, and I'm a software engineer living in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Jú and I got back from São Paulo last week, and I’ve realised it has been over a year since I updated this page. Shocking.

Home

Lyle (our newest family member) is almost a year old already, which has absolutely flown by. His arrival in June, after our honeymoon and Jú moving back to Scotland, upended my daily routine massively, and in some ways I’m only just getting in my stride with things. His friendship with Charlie is building daily now that he’s not an annoying puppy which is beautiful to see, and hopefully we can start running together soon.

I haven’t written much about my daily life recently; maybe a post on that would be good?

Running

Injury ruined the latter half of 2025 for me; 2026 hasn’t been much better so far, but that has been more due to falling out of love with running a bit. I do still get out, but it’s largely aimless miles just now, with nothing specific to aim for (I will be running the EMF half next week, but I have no specific plans to train for it). Pre-Brazil I had started to get into a more structured routine with fitness that I’m slowly getting back to now that we’re home (it was ignored entirely while we were away..)

Jú’s ongoing hip injuries have also contributed here I think. My favourite runs I’ve ever done have been with her and Charlie, and with his retirement and her injury stopping her running entirely, I’ve definitely lost a large portion of motivation and enjoyment. She is hopefully on a recovery track, and Lyle will be old enough soon, so fingers crossed, that will return.

What Am I Reading

When the Cranes Fly South by Lisa Ridzén.

This was one I got for Brazil - not the type of book I would normally go for, but I’ve really been enjoying exploring newer genres of fiction. A very sad story, but beautifully written; the theme is explored very gently and considerately. Strong recommend if you don’t mind crying.
